Ms. Tierra Jackson

 A Little About Me…

My first name is Tierra, which means ‘earth’ in Spanish. Something interesting about me is that I was born almost 8 weeks premature on Valentine’s Day. Although only 2 lbs 7oz, I was healthy and vibrant. I grew up on Lake Michigan and I am the eldest of three girls. I moved to Ann Arbor in 1999. I have three beautiful daughters Trinity 21, Qaurtney 18, and Jasmine 16.  Trinity graduated from Huron High school and now attends Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!). Qaurtney also graduated from Huron and now attends Michigan State University.  Yes, we are a house divided!! Jasmine is a sophomore at Huron High school.  Just a few years ago, I too was a Logan Parent!

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and my graduate studies at the University of Phoenix.   I have over 20 years of experience in education, 16 of which have been with Ann Arbor Public Schools, Kindergarten, Third Grade, Early Childhood Special Education, Communications Classrooms, and Cognitive Impaired Classrooms.

I hope that everyone had a relaxing and fun filled summer.  I spent my summer celebrating my daughter’s high school graduation, celebrating my 25th Year High School Class Reunion,  working summer school, and traveling Spain with my daughter and Huron High School’s Orchestra for 10 days.  The best was watching her play (violin) in The Auditorio Nacional de Musica, which is Western Europe’s equivalent to our New York Carnegie Hall.   I love dancing and music, and I often use music in the classroom.  I am an enthusiastic educator.  I enjoy motivating children, teaching children, and learning from children.  I look forward to creating engaging and effective relationships with your students and your family.

I am an enthusiastic educator.  I enjoy motivating children, teaching children, and learning from children.   I also run our Logan Student Council, Science Olympiad, Academic Games, and Logan social events (like our Fall Social & Spring Carnival).  I look forward to creating engaging and effective relationships with your student and your family.

Educationally Yours,

Tierra N. Jackson
