Jessica Cruz has dedicated the past 18 years to serving the Ann Arbor Public Schools in various capacities, including as a childcare supervisor, teacher’s assistant, classroom teacher, and assistant principal at Lawton and Allen Elementary Schools. After having the pleasure of working with the students, staff, and families of Allen during the 2023-24 school year, she is thrilled to deepen her commitment to the community as the principal of Allen Elementary starting in the fall of 2024.

Ms. Cruz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood from Eastern Michigan University, along with an Administrator Certificate from Concordia University. She is a firm believer that knowledge is power, but even more so in how that power can be harnessed to make a positive impact on the world.

Outside of school, Ms. Cruz enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Dan, and their three sons: Jacob, a freshman at Washtenaw Community College; Ethan, a junior at Pioneer High School; and Noah, a freshman at Lincoln High School. She loves to read, garden and spend time with her family outside when the weather is nice.
